Dr. Mary Barnette, a pediatrician who has been in private practice in Nacogdoches since 2002, is expanding her services by joining Dr. Amy Huggins at PineyWoods Pediatrics.
“I’m excited to join my friend of 10 years to continue to provide the best quality of care for our patients,” Dr. Barnette said.
Dr. Barnette is Board Certified in Pediatrics and a member Texas Medical Association. She volunteers as Medical Director for GETCAP Head Start in Nacogdoches and serves on the Nacogdoches County Child Fatality Review Team, which conducts in-depth reviews of circumstances of child deaths.
“Mary is a great doctor and a great friend, and I’m excited about working with her,” Dr. Huggins said. “She’s a great addition to our PineyWoods Pediatrics family.”
Dr. Barnette was raised in a military family and lived in Turkey, Mississippi, Alabama, Oklahoma and Abilene before making her home in Nacogdoches. She earned a B.S. in Biological Sciences from Mississippi State University, then attended medical school on an Air Force scholarship and earned her medical degree from the University of Mississippi. Before serving three years active duty as a general medical officer at Vance Air Force Base in Enid, Oklahoma, Dr. Barnette completed a one-year internship in pediatrics at the University of Mississippi. She completed her pediatric residency at Texas Tech University.
Dr. Barnette is married with three children. She attends Holly Springs Baptist Church in Nacogdoches and is a member of the Nacogdoches County Chamber of Commerce.
