LUFKIN, TEXAS – For its 2015 Leadership Christmas Project, CHI St. Luke’s Health Memorial Lufkin donated more than 100 health kits to Christian Information & Services Center (CISC) to promote healthier communities and support those in need during the holiday season.

Each department in the hospital was assigned to bring items needed for the kits. In all, Memorial employees donated 670 band-aids, 255 combs, 274 washcloths, 127 tubes of toothpaste, 25 bars of soap, 127 toothbrushes, and 98 canisters of deodorant. The kits were assembled on December 2 by members of Memorial’s leadership team, who also added candy and prayer cards.

“Our Leadership Luncheon agenda planning team always does something special for our luncheon scheduled in December,” said Peggy Mortensen, Market Vice President of Clinical Operations & Lufkin Chief Operating Officer. “Our luncheon topic was mission and ethics oriented, and by being a part of CHI, we wanted to do a simple project to give to others in need.”
